History

The family concept was founded in 2007 by Sergio Muscari Tomajoli.

After carrying out an analysis of the soil and climate with the help of Wine expert Gabriele Gadenz, chose to plant, on virgin soils, some selected varieties: Montepulciano, Petit Verdot, Vementino. The terrains, passed down in the family for over 100 years, are in a splendid position located in a hilly area a few kilometers away from the sea near the famous ancient Etruscan town of Tarquinia (Unesco World Heritage).  Today Sergio’s son Marco, sommelier of the Association of Italian Sommeliers, is carrying out the project with great passion.

Philosophy

Our philosophy is based on the respect of the grapevine and its natural life cycle. In our vineyard we completely exclude the use of  weedkiller, we work manually, we don't use fertilizers and no irrigation. We don't use chemical treatments, only use pure sulphur, copper sulphate and other organic products (clays zeolite type and propolis).

Our vineyard produces from 25 to 40 quintals of grapes per hectare. Our wines are exclusively produced using grapes farmed in our vineyards, vinified and bottled in our cellar. We meticulously follow and control the entire productive process, from the vineyard to the bottle, with the goal of obtaining the highest quality reachable. Our bottles are produced in limited quantities and all of them are numbered. The drawings on labels are signed by the artist Guido Sileoni.

Aita

aita-personaggio

On the label, the artist Guido Sileoni wanted to depict the Etruscan God of the underworld Aita. (Hades for the Greeks, Pluto for the Romans.)

The name recalls the etruscan history, indeed it refers to Velia Spurinna, also known as “Fanciulla Velca”.

The name comes from an ancient Church that existed in the area in the past where the holy relics of Saint Pantaleone were conserved.

The name recalls the etruscan origin of the territory and its strong bond with the sea.
